If ever you’re planning to overfly or make a landing in Yemen, you must know that Yemen is among the countries that has its own set of rules, regulations, and permissions when it comes to aircrafts flying over to their place. Whether you wish to land or enter their airspace, you have to follow certain procedures to be granted permission and access when flying over their area.
Whatever flight you’re operating, private flight, general aviation, charter flight, scheduled or non scheduled flights, cargo or passengers, it is a must that you secure a Yemen overflight permit.
According to Yemen’s CAA’s Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), any aircraft owner and/or operator who intends to fly in their airspace must submit a request for the country’s overflight clearance at least 48 working hours prior from the aircraft’s departure schedule. Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunication Network (AFTN) must always be included on your flight plan, but you’ll only need an overfly permit from Yemen.
If you’re planning to make a passenger flight landing or a technical stop, the Yemen Airport Authorities have a set of regulations on the issuance of OVF permit as payment will be required for this type of permit.
Only a few aviation companies have had a sizable amount of experience in processing Yemen OVF permits. Tahseen Aviation Service is among them. They have an extensive background in handling these types of requests so it’s better to leave these type of applications to their expert hands.
